In the early 1950's, Ray coached my baseball team in Freeport (Brookside Ave., town park). He was so kind to all of us.. driving us to other town parks for scheduled games, providing us with cold drinks. A very good and kind individual. He made our summers so special.

Donna and I were always in awe of Ray's achievements in life. From his Olympic Gold to his amazing family, Ray was always an inspiration to all who met him. I loved sitting with him and enjoying his stories. He was a great story teller and a walking encyclopedia of sports. I never forget our trip to the San Diego Super Bowl together. The one thing that never stopped bringing smiles to our faces was the love and admiration on the faces of his children and grandchildren when he entered the room. When asked why people leave us, think of walking in a meadow picking flowers. You picked the best ones first...Rest in Peace Ray.
