Previous comments from those in the broadcasting and journalism industries echoes the Mary Ellen Porrazzo that the Delta Gamma Beta Epsilon sisters at American University saw in the late 60s/early 70s. She always sported a beautiful smile and countenance and was a sincere friend to all.
Much too short of a life, she will always be remembered as a woman of valor.

This is deeply saddening news. Such a lovely person and much to young to die.
I worked with Mary Ellen at WCBS 880, the CBS Radio all-news station in NYC. She was a real pro. I was an anchor man and never worried when M'ellen, as she was affectionately known, was writing. I knew her copy would be accurate and well-crafted. Further, in the high-pressure environment of a big city newsroom where voices may rise and tempers flare, Mary Ellen's even temperament and gentle disposition
were a calming influence. She was a
very classy lady.

Even some 30 years later, one closes ones eyes and sees the smiling, inquisitive Mary Ellen looking up from her newsroom typewriter.

So sad to hear this news. What a wonderful person...a joy to work with and share stories. We continued to talk for years, especially about her love for animals. Rest in Peace M'ellon.

Mellen, as she was sometimes fondly referred to, was one of the most gentle souls that I've ever known. She was also a consummate professional. I enjoyed our time together at WCBS Radio. Rest In Peace Mary Ellen.

Hello! I am so sad! I was a reporter at WCBS-Radio in the 90's and Mary Ellen was one of my producers. She was one of the sweetest and most professional people I ever worked with during my 30 years in the industry. She didn't have a "bad bone in her body". I will always remember her. She will be missed. Doug Spero
