Bobby Jan Roberts

Bobby Jan Roberts, 69, of Panama City Beach, Florida, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Jan was born January 14, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas, to Robert Q. "Buster" Roberts and Marjorie "Belle" Abernathy Roberts. He grew up in San Angelo, Texas, and graduated from Central High School, San Angelo, Texas in 1960. Jan attended Angelo State College, now known as Angelo State University. Jan served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1972. He worked for many years for Mrs. Boehm's Holsum Bakery and DeCoty Coffee Company before moving to Panama City Beach, Florida where he worked at the Seascape Inn for many years until his death. His parents, Buster and Belle Roberts, preceded him in death. Brother, as he was affectionately known to his family, is survived by his sister, Beverly Roberts Burdett, and husband, Sparks Burdett, of Abilene, Texas; nephews, Michael Woolley of San Marcos, Texas, and John Burdett (and wife, Jennifer) of Odessa, Texas; and his great-nephew, Dalton Sparks Burdett. He is also survived by special friends: Dave Evans and his family, as well as his "Hooters Family" who honored him with a special memorial upon learning of his death, and his friends at Dusty's, Donovan's and All American Diner. Jan considered many in Panama City Beach his "extended family" and they held a special place in his heart. At Jan's request, no service will be held and his ashes will be scattered according to his wishes. Arrangements are by Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Panama City, Florida. Memorials may be made in Jan's memory to a favorite charity. His family and many friends will miss Jan's charm, intelligence, compassion, and sense of humor. We love you and miss you Brother. May you rest in peace.
