Joseph Crews Obituary
He was born in Columbia, Tenn., and had lived in Bay County since his retirement in 1966 at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Joe served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, retiring as a tech sergeant after 21 years service. After his military service, Joe worked 20 years in food service and supply at Tyndall AFB civil service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Panama City and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his son, Joseph Wesley "Joey" Crews Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Carmelita Crews of Panama City; daughter, Marilyn Bishop and husband, Eddie, of Panama City; daughter-in-law, Jerrie Crews of Panama City; sister, Mary Ellen Glass of Bellaire, Texas; brother, James A. Crews of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Jodi Pettis and husband, Craig, of Vernon, Jonathan Crews and wife, Nicole, of Panama City, Shannon Foor and husband, Daryl, of Chipley, Daniel Bishop of Panama City and Jessica Shultz and husband, Eric, of Panama City; great-grandchildren, Lynsey, Kristen, Jacob, Kaytlin, Kylee, Maci, Ryan and Dylan.
A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Interment with full military honors by the USAF will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 27, 2010, at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to either the First Baptist Church of Panama City Building Fund or to Covenant Hospice, in memory of Joseph Wesley Crews Sr.
