My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time. It seems like only yesterday when Mr. McSurdy and my Dad, Chal, coached the "Indians" in Little League baseball for the WYAA. It was back then when I first had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mr. McSurdy. Years later, Mr. McSurdy was my Science teacher at Williams Valley High School. He was a great teacher with a great sense of humor. I can remember how we'd always be joking and pulling pranks on each other over College football, as he was a die hard Penn State fan and I was and still am a die hard Notre Dame fan. Mr. McSurdy was not only a great teacher and coach at Williams Valley, he was a great man who cared about all of his students and players. He had "Spirit" and a "Heart of Gold". He was a very nice man and friend as well. It was a priveledge to have had the chance to get to know him, to have been one of his students, a cheerleader, who cheered him and the WV Vikings on to their many victories, and a statistition, who kept the baseball statistics for him. I feel very fortunate to have known such wonderful man, teacher and friend. God Bless you Mr. McSurdy, I will never forget you or the great times we had during little league baseball and the wonderful memories at Williams Valley!

My sincere condolences to Carol and Jim's family. Jim was one of those people who if you knew him in your youth and were previledged to be his friend, no matter that the years may have passed by, when you saw him it was like the years could not diminish the friendship. He was always just glad to see you. God Bless, Marie McNamara

So long, old Pal- Seems like yesterday we were sharing an apartment at the Knights of Columbus in Bloomsburg, living like shnooks, looking forward to rich, fulfilling lives. Sorry to see you go, Jim, but I know you're in a better place now, maybe you've even got a new VW, as good as the one you had in '68. A lot of folk will miss you, know that you're in my prayers, and that I'll have a Bitters' Cup with you. Eternal Rest, Old Friend. May God hold you.
