My condolences for Dick's family and his friends in Eagle. I had the privilege of working with Dick in the summer of 2007 on documenting the Han language. He was joined by Danny David, so he had a conversation partner. I remember Dick telling me with a chuckle, "You know, if we sound halting at first, remember, we have not spoken Han in thirty years." Dick was a wonderful and conscientious linguistic consultant. He would tell Han stories and tall tales with a twinkle in his eyes. He will be dearly missed, and fondly remembered.

My condolences to the family of Dickie. He is no longer in pain. He was a person who liked to keep things neat and tidy. One of the recent memories I have was when I visited him in the hospital in Anchorage and he was busy trying to tidy up his room.
Dickie, you will be missed. I was blessed to know you. RIP
Special hugs and prayers for Sam, Charles and VeeVee.

Its the best thing to known you Richard and as my co-veteran and friend and I remember I invited you from across the lake for breakfast and coffee at the new hall and you paddled in every morning and had breakfast with me and it was peaceful and it was way before my start of my music classes in Eagle during the flood. RIP and may GOD be with the family.
