Paul W. Hronjak, age 70, born October 5, 1942 in Bridgeport Ct, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Roena of the home; two daughters; one son; his mother; five sisters; and five grandchildren.
Paul's love for running and track and field continued throughout his life after participating in track and cross country teams at Stratford (CT) High School from which he graduated in 1960. He also graduated from Fairfield (CT) University in 1964. His interest in these sports continued and he measured courses for road races for over 30 years and has served as NC State Certifier for the Road Running Technical Council of USATF since 1994 and as the organization's Eastern Vice Chairman. Additionally he was a master level USATF certified official and officiated at many collegiate track meets in NC and elsewhere. He previously served on the Board of the Southeastern US Masters, Inc. which holds the longest continuously-held masters track meet in the country (2012 will be the 42nd annual meet).
A memorial service is to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Southeastern US Masters, Inc., a 501c3 not for Profit Corporation PO Box 9988 Chapel Hill, NC 27515. Online condolences can be made at www.thomasyelverton.com
