Henry Stewart Bigger

September 2, 1943 - September 3, 2016

Pittsboro

H. Stewart Bigger of Pittsboro, NC, passed away recently at UNC Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC after a valiant and courageous battle of with colon cancer. A talented multifaceted person and entrepreneur, he sent himself through school at UNC Chapel Hill and Fairleigh Dickinson, NJ and earned his BA in film from New York University, New York City in 1968. He had many ventures in life: film producer, documentarist, theatre special effects, photographer, tax preparer, restaurant owner and landscape business owner.

Stewart was born in Oak Park, IL to Richard Paul Bigger and Nora Stewart Bigger, the 3rd of 5 children. He is survived by his sister Sarah (Case) Burton, Summit, NJ; Joel R. Bigger and wife, Peggi Kelley, of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law Karen Bigger of Greenville, SC; Nieces Kayne Anderson and Sage Andrews and nephews Daniel Case, Richard Case, Rory Bigger and Kevin Bigger. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Elizabeth, brother Richard P., Jr., and his nephew, Edwin Case.

He will be greatly missed by his dear girlfriend Gwendy Miles of Washington, WV and his surrogate NC families: the Ambergs of Pittsboro---Maureen, Jay, Megan and Justin---and Larry and Julie Takacs of Youngsville, NC.

Memorial Service: Saturday, October 29, 2016, 3:00 PM, the Chapel at University United Methodist Church, 150 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, NC. A Memorial donation to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, CB #7295 UNC-CH, Chapel HIll, NC 27599-7295 will be appreciated.
