Mary Jenkins Obituary
Keel Jenkins
Raleigh
Mary Anne Keel Jenkins, age 87, passed Sun., Feb. 26, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was daughter of Rufus Vanoy Keel and Bertha Elizabeth Crandell, born in Stokes, NC and raised in Greenville. She moved to Raleigh in 1951, where she studied at Ferree Art School and pursued an accomplished career as a fine artist, and painting instructor at Pullen Arts Center, since 1962. She won 43 awards, exhibited in 50 solo and 2-person shows, and over 361 group exhibits in the US and Canada. Her works are in permanent collections of numerous museums including NC Art and NC History Museums. She is survived by daughter, Grace Keel Jenkins, son, Reid Keel Jenkins of Raleigh and 27 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sun. Apr. 30, at Brown-Wynne, Raleigh.
