Emily Hegedus Obituary

Emily Hegedus, age 89 of Manchester, Vt., passed away February 4, 2011 at her home in Manches-ter. She was born in Danbury on June 15, 1921, the daughter of Stephen and Amelia (Wirag) Lucsky. She married Joseph Paul Hegedus, Sr., whom she met while serving in the U.S. Women's Army Corps (WAC) stationed in Tennessee, on June 16, 1945. Mr. Hegedus passed away on July 31, 1995. Emily worked for many years for Risdon Manufacturing in Danbury, eventually retiring and moving to Vermont in the late 80s. She loved travelling to Florida and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, the Neighbor to Neighbor Luncheons and the Happy Go-Getters in Manchester. She was an avid reader, loved doing her crossword puzzles and watching her game shows. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Betti" Sayes of Manchester, Vt.; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph P. Jr., and Karin Hegedus of Manchester, Vt.; her brother, Joseph Lucsky of Rancho Cordoba, Calif.; her sisters, Julia Valuzzo, Ethel Schulz and Carolyn Messina, all of Danbury; her grandchildren, Tricia Dahnke, Michael Wright, Paul Hegedus and Stephen Hegedus; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Jennifer Dahnke; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gabriel, Steve, Andrew; and John and sisters, Lillian Lounsbury and Rose Pullen The Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated at Christ Our Savior Parish in Manchester at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Burial will take place in the Spring at St. Columbans Cemetery in Arlington, Vt. Family and friends may call at the Brewster Funeral Home, 34 Park Place, Manchester on Tuesday prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Emily's memory be made to either the Manchester Rescue Squad or to "Neighbor to Neighbor" c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O.
