Joe Kane was a true gentleman, excellent pilot and a joy to be with in and out of the cockpit. We shared many enjoyable SWA B-747 Trans Atlantic trips out of JFK. God speed Joe, and my sincere condolences to all your family.....Bob Gibson, Kent, CT & Portland, OR

A great Pilot, a true family man, a good friend and a true hero. I had the honor of flying many trips with Joe and will miss his sense of humor and generosity. When ever I was informed the Capt. on the trip was to be Joe, I looked forward to the trip no matter where it went or for how long.

To the Kane family,
Uncle Joe will always be in our prayers. He was a wonderful friend to my Dad and Mom ( "Bub" and "LaLa" - Walter and Dolores McDougal)and was always considered an Uncle by all the McDougal kids. Who wouldn't want a good looking, fun, kind, warm and generous man like that to be in our lives? When I was going to be married he brought French champagne (via Seaboard) for our toast. Always the thoughtful one. Our country owes him, as do all of us, an eternal debt of gratitude for all that he did. It truly is the passing of the best of the best. Even though you all must be heartbroken, I'm sure you are all very proud.
