Juanita Bickford Obituary

Juanita Edwina Brown Bickford, age 95 previously of New Haven, beloved mother, grand-mother, and great-grand-mother, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Gardner Heights Health Center, Shelton, after a long illness. Mrs. Bickford, widow of Edgar P. Bickford, was born December 19, 1914 in Greenville, Maine, daughter of Oliver and Ellen Jane (Butler) Brown. She was a stay at home mother during her younger years and later worked at King Street School, Connors Engineering and retired from Barden's, all in Danbury. She lived in Maine, New Canaan, and Danbury before making her final home with her daughter in New Haven. She loved birds, flowers, sports, and little children. She had a lovely voice, liked to sing with her family, and was passionate about dancing. Mrs. Bickford is sur-vived by her sons, David E. Bickford and his wife, Patsy of La Fargeville, N.Y., Peter H. Bickford and his wife, Kathryn, of Canaan, and A. Lee Bickford of Danbury; her daughter, Terry Phelan, and her husband, George, of New Haven; a brother, Howard Brown of Swanton, Vt.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard O. Bickford, West Point, Class of '67 who was killed in Viet Nam, and Nita's sisters, Mary and Ellen Brown. Services will be at the convenience of the family in Maine and have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Mrs. Bickford was a lifetime blood donor and memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, Connecticut Regional Chapter, and P.O.
