Bertrand Ouellette Obituary

Ouellette, Bertrand J.
Bertrand Joyime Ouellette, 78, of Newtown passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 28, 2014. Bert was born in Madawaska, Maine on May 29, 1935, the son of Joyime Ouellette and Sadie (Lagasse) Ouellette. He has been predeceased by his parents, his sister Verna Ouellette of Madawaska, and his sister Rena (Ouellette) Thibeault and her husband Robert Thibeault also of Madawaska. Bert served in the armed services during the Korean War while stationed at Ft. Worth, Texas. He went on the marry Margaret Prete of Hartford, and together they raised three children, eventually settling in Newtown. During his life Bert worked for Drywall Associates, Napa Auto Parts, and Town Fair Auto where he met many life-long friends. He was an avid gardener and spent much of his free time tending to his vegetable plants in the yard, working on automotive and mechanical projects, and spending time with his five grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Bertrand is survived by his daughter Rena (Ouellette) Simoes, her husband Daniel Simoes of Wolcott and their daughters Alicia and Gabriella; his eldest son Bertrand Ouellette and his wife Debora (Weigl) Ouellette of New Milford and their dog Boone; and his younger son Mark Ouellette and his wife Melissa (Sowle) Ouellette of Southbury and their three children Zachary, Kenzie and Chad, He is also survived by his niece Susan (Thibeault) Kelly, her husband Karl Kelly of Madawaska, Maine and their two children Morgan and Curtis. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice, c/o The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, PO Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492 or www.masonicare.org Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St. ,Newtown from 5pm to 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Friday May 2nd. Interment with military honors will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery.
