(Welner) Hockel

Alice Rita (Welner) Hockel, 64, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010, at her residence.

Ms. Hockel was born on June 11, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Goets) Welner.

Alice was self-employed, running her own cleaning service. She was an avid artist who enjoyed painting, ballet and music.

Survivors include her fiance and companion for 20 years, John Zawhorodny of Waynesboro; a son, John P. Lennon of Michigan; a brother, John Welner of St. Louis, Missouri; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at the Irish Creek Community Cemetery by the Reverend Jeremy Sipe.

Those desiring may call Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory at any time.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
