Delmar Self Obituary
Delmar was born in Smoke Hole, West Virginia, on June 7, 1940, a son of the late Alvin and Emma (Alt) Self.
He owned and operated Grottoes Roofing Company, and was a member of Mount Olivet Christian Church in Elkton. He had also served in the United States Army.
He was united in marriage on November 27, 1965, to Frieda (Rosson) Self, who survives.
Delmar is survived by two daughters, Sherri Wiseman of Port Republic, and Kristi Lewis of Stuarts Draft; two sons, Greg Self of Port Republic and Bradley Self of Port Republic; three sisters, Doris McDaniel of Stanardsville, Eva Ailer of Verona, and Ruth Fulk of Harrisonburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, David, Daniel, Miranda, Chance, Austin, Megan, and Jonathan; one great- grandson, Noah; and three special young men, Andrew, Travis, and Dylan.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Pinkney, John, Ralph, Orville, and Paul Self; and a grandson, Dalton Lewis.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Mount Olivet Christian Church in Elkton, with Pastor Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Church Cemetery in McGaheysville.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Service in Grottoes.
Memorial contributions may be made to Johnson Funeral Service, 201 Dogwood Avenue, Grottoes, VA 24441 to aid in funeral expences.

i amvery sorry to hear this, i wored fo delmar when i lived in tat area,h was a good man and he will be missed, i remember having coffee evry morning beor going to work, my prayers are out for the family
