Gerald Maynard Wiseman

Gerald Maynard Wiseman, 74, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 27, 2010, at Augusta Health.

He was born on May 29, 1936, in Staunton, a son of the late Jerry Wilson and Frosty Caricofe Wiseman.

Mr. Wiseman graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1956 and served in the United States Army having been discharged on August 6, 1962. He worked at the Waynesboro DuPont Plant for 33 years and retired on November 17, 1990.

He was a school bus driver for Augusta County for 18 years and retired September 30, 2010. He had been a police reserve officer for the Augusta County Sheriffs Department, a lifetime member of the NRA, and the North American Hunt Club and also a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Mawyer Wiseman; two daughters, Frostie Wiseman Eckard and her husband, William, of Waynesboro, Shannon Lee Morrison and her husband, Bryan, of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Jessica Hatter and her husband, Ben, Tiffany McAllister, Brittany McAllister and Kristi Nicole Eckard; two step-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Morrison; two brothers, Alden Wiseman and his wife, Lucille, of Staunton, Linwood Wiseman and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Fishersville; sisters-in-law, Dot and Charlie Oliver and Brenda Mawyer; brothers-in-law, Sam Snider, C.T. Mawyer and his wife, Patty, and John Mawyer and his wife, Sue. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends, George Coyner II, Lemuel Kirby, Terry Kirby, Carroll Mauzy and a very special friend, Dr. Diane Moody.

A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2010, at Augusta Memorial Park with the Reverend Donald Simmons officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God-Anderson, 1850 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton, VA 24401.

Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro has been entrusted with the arrangements.

There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
