Margaret Gerick

Margaret Anna Gerick, 92, of Waynesboro, died on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at her residence.

She was born on July 18, 1918, in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of Francis X. and Estella M. Maenner Greenwald.

Before reitiring, she was a manager for Fairfax County Food Service. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry P. Gerick; and a son, Francis B. Gerick.

Surviving are her son, Henry P. Gerick Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Locust Grove; her daughters, Elizabeth M. Cocchini of Fleetville, Pennsylvania, and Joan L. Randall of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Mrs. Gerick was Godmother to Franny Eliopoulios and Laurie Ann Rafferty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church by the Reverend Rolo Castillo. Interment will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010, at McDow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, Fishersville, VA 22939, or the Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Ste. 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
