Orville "Jack" Beverly Anderson Sr. STAUNTON

Orville "Jack" Beverly Anderson Sr., 77, of Staunton, flew his last mission at 4:25 a.m. November 12, 2010. DestinationHeaven.

He passed away surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren at Augusta Health of Fishersville.

He was the son of the late Orville Thomas Anderson and Helen Louise Padgett Anderson. Born and raised in the city of Waynesboro, he would have graduated with his Waynesboro High Class of 1952, if it were not for volunteering to serve his country. Mr. Anderson proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1958. He flew 25 missions as an aerial gunner during the Korean Conflict and the Cold War.

Mr. Anderson was married to his wife, Betty Jean (Holly) Anderson, for 40 years, who is now deceased. They had five children who all survive him; Cynthia Bright and her husband, Doug, JacLynn Carter and her husband, Rick, Orville B. Anderson Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Deborah J. Fox and her husband, Jody, and Owen B. Anderson and his wife, Amy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cory Campbell, Kelli Puffenbarger, Bethany, Monica and Matthew Carter, Leigh Anne Losh, Josh and Jeremy Fox; a sister, Judith C. Anderson and her husband, Andy. He is also survived by a number of great grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and cousins. Mr. Anderson also leaves behind his beloved sidekick and pet, "Miss Kitty." He also leaves behind his breakfast buddies and close friends.

Besides his wife and parents, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Smith, Joann Sims, and Diane D. Anderson.

He was a faithful member of the Parkway Wesleyan Church of Staunton, where he leaves behind his beloved church family. Through his entire life he was always a jokester. He never met a stranger. He always remained upbeat and kidding, never complained, no matter how much pain he was in.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Parkway Wesleyan Church of Staunton. Friends and family will gather following the service for fellowship and a meal.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make any contributions to Parkway Wesleyan Church of Staunton, 1987 Springhill Road, Staunton, VA 24401 or to a charity of your choosing.
