Phyllis (Rowe) Doyle, 87, widow of Burl Elwood Doyle, formerly of Raphine, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at Flint Mountain Road, Stuarts Draft, where she had been residing.

Phyllis was born January 23, 1923, in Lofton, a daughter of the late Charles Kenny and Lillie (Brandt) Rowe.

Mrs. Doyle was a member of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church.

Prior to retirement, she was employed by DuPont in Waynesboro where she and Burl formed many close friendships.

Her husband of over 55 years preceded her in death on February 23, 2001.

Phyllis is survived by her nieces, nephews, and their families. She is also survived by her dear friends and caregivers, Mary Wilhelm, Dixie Peltier, and Barbara Bryant.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010, at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Reverend Sandra M. Rushing, Pastor of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be the congregation of Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be private.

Friends may call at the Henry Funeral Home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
