Stephen Franklin Rowe STAUNTON

Stephen Franklin Rowe, 72, of Idlewood Boulevard, passed way at 8:28 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, at his residence.

He was born March 5, 1938, in California, a son of the late James Brooks Sr. and Ruby Campbell Rowe.

He was a 15 year veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church and retired from Genicom of Waynesboro.

During his high school years at Waynesboro High School he lettered in football.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen F. Rowe Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Rachael Rowe; four step-sons, Chip Rowe of Norfolk, Kenneth Chittum of Waynesboro, Larry Chittum and his wife, Tina, of Waynesboro, and Chucky Chittum and his wife, Faye, of Waynesboro; three daughters, Stephanie Rowe of Norfolk, Angelia Washburn of Norfolk, and Annette Rowe of Norfolk; a brother, James B. Rowe Jr. of North Carolina; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and a great- grandchild to be born.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Merle Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 340.

Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Chittum, Larry Chittum, Chip Rowe, Shane Washburn and Harry Washburn.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2010, at the funeral home.
