It´s a year later, and I can say that I still think of him every now, and then. I feel his presence at the neighborhood music school when I´m teaching. What amazes me is knowing that he studied with Paul Hindemith- this just blew my mind. I use one of Hindemith´s books to drill my students with ear training. Now whenever I use that book, I will think of Lee Howard. What a wonderful being he was.

Dear Helen, John, and Lee J. and Families. Heartfelt condolences to you on the death of your beloved, supremely talented, and generous father and grandfather. Lee's accomplishments at Neighborhood Music School and St Paul and St James have really impacted my life and our community as a whole in very positive ways. I was so interested to learn more from Julia Blue Raspe about the Kodaly chorus. And I well remember his feats at the piano at many a Mardi Gras (sitting on the floor with back to piano and reaching over behind himself to play)! Among Lee's many gifts was the ability to have serious fun.
May your fond memories of your father continue to be a blessing during this time of loss, Judy Lhamon

My sincerest condolences. Mr Howard was one of the most important teachers I ever had. In elementary school, he "sealed the deal" for my love of music. I went on to study music more seriously and earned multiple degrees. His gentle approach, and kind encouragement were always in the back of my mind as I taught music. On the few occasions where we had a chance to meet (by accident at concerts), he hadn't changed- he was still the same warm, encouraging, and humble man. I have such great memories of him. Our shared moments are, and will be, cherished for the rest of my lifetime. I know he has touched so many lives in a positive way. Thank you so much.

Dear Hannah,
So very sorry to hear of your father's passing. Your father was such an outstanding Director of the NMS!
I so loved seeing you and Linda at CRH two years ago.
I wish for you and your family all the very best,
Phil
