June McLaughlin Obituary

PEQUANNOCK — Services will be held for June Beatrice Peckart McLaughlin, 95, of the Pompton Plains section of this community, who died on Friday, May 30, 2014.

Born in Glen Rock, Mrs. McLaughlin lived in Ridgewood before moving to Pompton Plains. She was a school psychologist for the town of Secaucus from 1976 until her retirement in 1984. Previously, she was a part-time stenographer and secretary for the Ridgewood mayor, Planning Board, and Board of Adjustment.

From 1937 to 1942, she was secretary to the Consul General of El Salvador and then at the W.R. Grace Company, both in New York City. She was a member of the Glen Rock Community Church, the Ridgewood West Side Presbyterian Church, the College Club of Ridgewood, the David Ackerman Descendents — 1662, and the Passaic Historical Society. She was a former member of the National Association of School Psychologists and the New Jersey Association of School Psychologists. Also, she was a Girl Scout leader and president of the Union Street School PTA.

Arrangements are by the Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood. Donations may be sent to the Ridgewood College Club Memorial Scholarship Loan Fund, P.O. Box 118, Ridgewood, NJ 07451.

Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by her son, James of Damon, Texas; her daughters, Joan Bouchard of Lebanon, Conn., and Puerto Cortes, Honduras, Janet McKay of Santa Fe, N.M., and Linda Anne McLaughlin of Stamford, Conn.; her companion, Quentin Wiest of Ridgewood; and seven grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John; her parents, Serena and Cornelius Peckart; her sister, Florence; and her brother, Robert.
