Gerald Lee "Jerry" Hennings

1936 - 2012

Gerald "Jerry" Lee Hennings, 75, of Strasburg, VA, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Blue Ridge Hospice, Winchester, VA.

He was born on July 14, 1936, in Washington D.C., the son of the late George W. and Rebecca C. Hennings.

With the exception of a few years of his adult lifetime in the automobile repair business, his love of electronics led him to repairs of televisions and other electronic equipment in the McLean and Fairfax, VA areas. After closing his company, Sheffield Electronics, he became employed in the Fairfax County School System in their electronics department where he serviced or supervised equipment repairs in many of the county schools. In 2003 he retired as a Field Services Manager and moved to Strasburg to sit back and look at the mountains near his home.

Jerry enjoyed his hobbies of travel trailer camping, fishing, hunting old cemeteries with Ann, and keeping up-to-date on the local police and fire goings on with his monitor radios. Driving his John Deere tractor to work around the yard and assembling large jig-saw puzzles were other joys of his life.

He is survived by his life-long love, Ann Arnold Hennings; his two daughters and their families, Virginia (Joseph) Shearin of Lancaster, PA, and Linda (Douglas) Whittaker of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren, Corrie Lynn Shearin, Michael Ryan Whittaker, and Morgan Lee Whittaker; and a sister, Joyce H. Cleland of Vero Beach, FL. A brother, James C. Hennings preceded him in death.

A private ceremony will be held at a later time.
