Frances Staples Obituary


Frances M. Venable Staples, 97, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Monday, September 21, 2009, in a local nursing facility.

Mrs. Staples was born in 1912, in Stephens City, Virginia, the daughter of the late John and Emma Venable. She was a homemaker and of the Presbyterian Faith. She was a graduate of Stephens City High School and attended nurses training in Richmond, Virginia. Mrs. Staples had a great love of family and friends.

Her husband, Charles Kenneth Staples, whom she married on November 19, 1938, in Boyce, Virginia, preceded her in death on June 19, 1982.

Surviving is her son, Charles William Staples of Stephens City, Virginia; three grandchildren; Kenneth Brooks Staples, Kevin Morris Staples, Kelly Leigh Bartles; one great grandchild, Chenoa Staples; her sister, Katheryn V. Claytor of Winchester, Virginia; four nieces, Ann Reely, Terri Michener, Ellen B. David, Mary M. Gardner; two nephews, Robert Claytor and Bret Venable.

Her daughter, Rebecca K. Staples, three sisters, Cecelia Venable Reid, Charlotte K. Venable, Helen Venable Reely and three brothers, William Atwell Venable, John Marshall Venable and Richard Edward Venable, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Brook Staples, Kevin Staples, Joe Carbaugh, Charles C. Bauserman, Robert Claytor, and Neil Bartles.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stephens City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, P.O. Box 253, Stephens City, Virginia 22655.
