Ronald Maddox Obituary


Ronald Paul Maddox, 86, of Herndon, VA, died on Monday, August, 28, 2017 at his home.

A memorial service will be held on November 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the UUCF, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton, VA.

An inurnment service will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal, VA at a later date.

Ron was born October 21, 1930 in Washington, D.C., son of the late Paul Augustus Maddox and Agnes Phillips Garretson.

A graduate of Swarthmore College and George Washington Law School, he conducted a general law practice in the Northern Virginia area and was a long time member of the Fairfax Bar Association.

Ron loved sports of every kind, particularly football and the Washington Redskins. He was also an avid reader and writer of science fiction.

Ron was a loving husband and father of eight children. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Rushing Maddox of Herndon; two sons, David Maddox and Michael Maddox; three daughters, Tamara Maddox, Deborah Wheeler, and Karen Manukas; his brother, Peter Garretson; his sister, Deborah Garretson; 29 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Veronica Maddox and Dolores Martin; his son, Ronald Patrick Maddox; and his brother, David Garretson.
