Bernice Petersen Obituary
She was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Chicago, to Anthony and Helen (Klish) Bogus.
Formerly of Chicago, she was a resident of Wonder Lake since 1966.
She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 1169 of Wonder Lake. She also served as an election official for McHenry County.
She enjoyed bingo and was talented artistically in drawing. She enjoyed life to its fullest, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Survivors include five children, Laura Harrison of Belvidere, Carl Petersen of Twin Lakes, Wis., Jeffrey Petersen of Marengo, Rodney (Stacey Pyne) Petersen of Island Lake and Melody (Jeff) Bruns of Wonder Lake; 13 grandchildren, Tracy (Gary), Jennifer (Chris), Julie (Keith), Nicole, Michelle, Jamison, Jessica (Dave), Jocelyn, Meghan, Joshua, Melissa (Lance), Mariah and Andrew; and six great-grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Kevin, Andrew, Brandon and "Little Twinkle Toes" Savanna.
Friends may meet her family from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
Memorials are suggested to the Wonder Lake Food Pantry or to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
