She graduated from St. Mary High School and was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. She and her husband operated the Budweiser Café restaurant on the Woodstock Square from 1965-77. She then began a career with State Bank of Woodstock as a bookkeeper, which lasted well into her 70s before her retirement. She always will be remembered as being the most avid Cubs fan. She is survived by four sons, Phil (Mary Jean) Kiefer of McHenry, Jim (Wanda) Kiefer of Woodstock, Paul (Lynell) Kiefer of Cary and Tom (Teresa) Kiefer of Genoa City; 11 grandchildren, Matt, Katie, Jenny (fiancé, Tim Tierney), Jeff, Becky, Brett, Sean, Erin, Kelly, Ben and Jake Kiefer; a niece, Sandy Diedrick; two nephews, George Kiefer and Joe Faehndrick; and other nieces and nephews, cousins, and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2006; and a brother, Ed Faehndrick in 1995.

The visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock. Have many fond memories of your Mom, Jean going back to her being the maid of honor for my parents wedding over 60 years ago. Jean and Kief were neighbors of Ray and I for over 30 years and we will always see them taking their walk after a couple drinks and dinner. They would stop by and talk. Always "The Cubs". You sons set the tone for future little league players for our son and the neighbor boys by playing down in back. Must be something about down there because of all of the five guys who played ball back there with my son ALL of them made All Stars for many years!!! It was great!!!! My Mom Ev Gustafson visited Jean often and I can only imagine the stories that they could tell. Wish they were both here to talk about those stories. Jean will be missed and there will NEVER be one quite like her.
Maybe this will be the years for the Cubs and if it is we all will know who pushed them. Prayers and warm regards to each of you. Fondly, Mel and Ray Lenzi
