We celebrate the achievements and life of Max, who served his family, has country, and profession with wisdom and dignity. He will always be remembered. We are saddened over the news of his death, however the loss is overshadowed by the proud

My cousin Max's kind generosity introducing me, a distant Londoner, to my extended American and Canadian family brought new friendships and a new Jewish awareness into my life. I will treasure the holiday we spent together in Munster last year, our visits to Chicago art galleries, boat trips... and our fascinating conversations about American politics, his years in the air force, travel... He was fascinated by life, and his quiet old fasioned way of embracing you into his world will stay in my memories.

When a family member passes away, different thought pop into your mind. My was, How was Max related. Even though as a child it was explained over and over again by my mother (Gisela). So my mother’s (Gisela), mother’s (Agathe) husband’s (Hans) mother’s (Jenny) sister’s (Franciska) grandchildren (Max and Hannah). It never quite stuck in my mind. It’s simple, we have the same Great-Great Grandparents. It might seem to the outsider that it’s distinct, but to me it was not. Even though we only meet a few times the stories of my mother brought the generations and distance close together. I am truly saddened by the loss and sorrowed by the fact we did not see each other more often. My love to the family. Ron

I'm not sure if I met Max when I was young and travelled with my parents (to visit Hella & Walter Josephson in Peoria), but he called 2 years ago when my mother passed away. I still remember the kind and gentle conversation. It was like we had known each other for years.

I was so sorry to hear about Max's passing. We had made plans to meet the next time I was in Chicago. I knew him since I was very young, and he attended my parent's wedding in Germany. He was indeed a bright and kind person.

Max was an extraordinarily kind, gentle, generous and compassionate individual. Beyond that, having known him for many years, I was always impressed at how calm and non-complaining he was. There was so much to admire about him.

Dr. Goldschmidt was first a colleague, but became my primary care physician at the clinic facility in North Chicago. He was a fine doctor, but most of all he was a very good person. I am certainly better off for having the pleasure of knowing him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Goldschmidt during the CMS interviews and after meeting him, I liked him right away. I wanted to make sure he had the closest room;etc., so he wouldn't have to walk far. He was unlike others of his stature, he took the time to get to know me better. I can recall him suggesting to me to make sure I take part in our investment plan here at the school; and I told him I did. I can recall saying when he left for the day...I like that man. I have read the other remarks and find that others feel as I do...he was genuinely a kind spirit, may he RIP. Sincerely.

Dr. Goldschmidt was a wonderful, caring individual. I just saw him this past week here at Chicago Med. and we were talking about our times together at the clinic. He was always up on the most uptodate information about medicine and how it would help his patients. I never heard him have a bad thing to say about anything. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I will miss this very gentle and kind colleague who exhibited the ethical and moral conduct of what we emulate in a Doctor of Medicine. He selflessly loved practicing his profession and the educational by- product of his work benefitted patients, students, and colleagues alike.
He was considerate and kind to all he befriended and his name was always mentioned with the highest regard from everyone that knew him.

I was saddened to learn of the death of Max who I first met while severing on committee at Rosalind Franklin University. He was a devoted member of that committee and very thoughtful and careful about making the right decision. He will be missed by me as well as those who were fortunate to have known him.

Max was the closest of friends and colleagues. When I first came to Chicago Medical School and met Max, I realized that he was a rare and wonderful human being. Indeed if I were to characterize what a Physician is and Should be in all the wonderful senses of the word, he fits all of these ideals. He loved Medicine, his patients and his fellow workers. He worked to his utmost to do the right thing not only in delivering top notch care for his patients, but to do all the other things that were needed and to serve as their advocate. He sought input from all that had specialized knowledge that would make him a better Doctor. His warmth, compassion, devotion and personality all made him who he is. He cared about people and cared about other ethnic, religious groups and social classes as he did his own. His devotion and love for his family is something he always expressed to me and he cared and was interested in me and my family. I often sat and talked for hours to hime. I miss him dearly already. My wife Kathy and I send our condolences and Max Audrey and your family are in our prayers.

Dr. Goldschmidt was a true gentleman and a kind and compassionate human being. I was fortunate to know him in my position at Chicago Medical School and was delighted by stories from students whom he mentored. I also saw him personally as a physician on a number of occasions. I last saw him only last month in the hall here at school, and he was the same warm and sweet man he always was. My condolences to his family and friends on this sad loss.

Dr. Goldschmidt was my interviewer for medical school. He made me so comfortable and welcome into the school. Reading that he was still interviewing the morning of the day he passed away was very sad, but I'll always remember him for his spirit to pass on knowledge to the newer generation.
