GEORGE I. SHAW JR.

GEORGE I. SHAW, JR. KNOX, IN George I. Shaw, Jr., age 66 of Knox, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010 at LaPorte Hospital. He was born September 5, 1943 in Valparaiso the son of George and Amanda (Doelling) Shaw, Sr., and graduated from Liberty Twp. High School in 1962 where he set numerous sprint records. George began at McGill's Bearing Division as a Microcentric Operator and advanced to become a Supervisor with 28 years of service. Area residents may remember he owned and operated Shaw's Decorating in Valparaiso where he painted and wallpapered and had also worked closely with Doelling's for 40 years. George also distinguished himself as a master bowmen, game hunter and fisherman, member of Deep River Bowmens' Club, Pope & Young Club, NFAA and IFAA. On August 8, 1964, George married Anne Marie Wittschack who survives along with their four children: Gary Allen Shaw of Knox, Kenneth Patrick (Ingrid) Shaw of Walkerton, Amber Lynn (Jeffery) Cooley of Rensselaer and John Paul Shaw of Knox; sister, Darlene Ann Hise; brother, Leonard Wayne (Donna) Shaw of Valparaiso; four grandchildren: Seana Baldwin, Kirstyn Jimenez, Michael and Denise Cooley; and four great grandchildren: Melissa and Isabella Baldwin, and Payton and Carter Jimenez. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso with entombment at Graceland Mausoleum. Visitation Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
