Perhaps Irmgard was signaling from heaven as I thought of her today so intensely and had to write and say I missed her so and missed Junie, which is what we called Harry while saying hello passing his garage in town on the way from CPHS to Pic and Jon's at lunch. Going back to long ago, I babysat for Irmgard and Harry's children and became close friends with them when they lived on Main St. After my marriage to Peter Brown, Irmgard and Harry, the Jolliefs', a lovely couple from Detroit and my husband and myself traveled on the Denver Zephyr to Denver to go skiing in New Mexico. We took guitars and sang folksongs on the way there, ate cheeses and salamis and Italian bread and didn't sleep a wink. Great fun and the skiing was fantastic, if terrifying! Unfortunately, on our last day there, Harry decided on one last run as it was getting cloudier, Harry fell and broke his leg quite badly. We headed back home. Harry took it in stride and Irmgard, ever the loving, caring being, took good care of him. Several years ago, I saw Irmgard at the Chesterton Art Fair and she bought a painting from me of a cowboy and I loved her having it as it was one of my favorites. I'm 80 now, the time goes quickly, but the memories remain of those who inspired my life and Harry and Irmgard and their kindness and love for each other will forever be in my most fondest memories. Rest in peace, dear friends. We will meet again.

I have not only lost my mother but my best friend and am deeply saddened that she will no longer be a part of my life - no more visits up to see her, phone calls from her and especially her presence which has always been such a large part of my life. I will miss her greatly but know she has been ready for this a long time.

Irmgard was a classy lady.. I loved hearing stories of her Harry, she told me many times no one ever loved like we did with a sneaky smile .. And Carol , Irmgard and I would just laugh while drinking coffee and enjoying the many deserts we shared in the coffee room. She was my instant friend when I opened my store at the courthouse and things were never the same after she left. The courthouse lost part of its charm. She was a lady that said what she meant and did what she said. I admired her for that and I'll always be grateful for her encouragement and friendship. RIP peace in the loving arms of your Harry.

Irmgard, what's to say, was a classy broad. Her many gifts back to her children, other family, and the community were numerous. Such a couple she & Harry were. Their example of love to each other was so wonderful to all who knew them. Dedication has a new definition-Harry & Irmgard! Let us know if we can help any of you. Greg & JoAnn know we are good listeners. Prayers, Comfort & Peace, Aggie Zellers

Dear Claussen family, my sincere condolences at the passing of your Mother. She was a stylish lady and a friend of my own dear Mother. I always shopped at Le Fleur when I lived in Crown Point. I knew the gifts I purchased there would be cherished. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Heaven is about to get a little more classy!
