John Murray Obituary

MURRAY--John A., passed away on March 5, 2009 at Sound Shore Medical Center. He was 85 years old. Mr. Murray was born on May 5, 1923 in Cincinnati, Ohio to William and Anna Ahearn Murray. John was an attorney working for the Corporation Council City of New York for three years and then the New York City Transit Authority for thirty three years for their Assistant Council Appeals Division. John was a member of the Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Department Company #3 for 26 years. He is survived by his wife of fifty two years Mary McLaughlin Murray, also surviving are his daughter Julie Berberian (Aram) and his son William J. (Vanessa) Murray and grandchildren Katharine and Caroline Berberian. His loyal dog Scully survives as well as several nieces and nephews. He is the brother of the late Samuel J. Murray. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lupus Foundation of America, 200 L Street, N.W., Suite 710, Washington D.C., 20036 preferred. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 11am, St. Pius X Church, Scarsdale. Visiting hours Sunday 2-4pm at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes, 824 Scarsdale Avenue, Scarsdale, NY 10583. (914)725-1137. A celebration of Mr. Murray's life will be announced at a later date.

As President of the Retired Mens Club of Cape Cod I would like to express condolences from al the club members.John was a long time member and I also have many fond memories of early morning golf with the "TWO BITTERS" with John. We have missed him in recent years. Your have our sympathy.
