Richard Netter Obituary

NETTER--Richard. It is with great sadness that Joanne Loewy and the staff of the Louis Armstrong Center for Music and Medicine of Beth Israel Medical Center mourn the death of our champion and benefactor Richard Netter. His support and wisdom, coupled with his warm enthusiasm for serving those most in need, was an inspiration. Thanks to him, countless patients benefit from the healing power of music each day. To Alice, Laurie and Patricia, we extend our heartfelt condolences.

Few people understood the world as clearly as Richard. From his love of people to his passion for helping others, Richard Netter was a true humanitarian. His sense of humor, his comical illustrations, and his respect for people will, I hope, live on through those he helped.

I will always remember Richard Netter. He interviewed me for membership on the Board of Trustees for Beth Israel and I was in awe of his deep commitment to the hosital. As the years went on I was impressed by his strength and courage, even in the face of illness.

Although I knew Richard for only a few years, I consider myself fortunate. His wit and witticism were infectious. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
