Steven, in the short time I knew you - you left such an impression on me. You were a thoughtful gentleman to me at a time when I was flailing and needed to believe there was still such a thing. Your sense of humor was refreshing and quick with a touch sharp truth. You told me two of my favorite jokes which I have retold over & over. I am so sorry you could not stay- but it is with everything in me that I trust you are in the most wonderful place & are not lost to those who love you but only absent for awhile. My mother is there waiting for me - look her up - she will adore you.

Steven was a wonderful childhood friend of mine and one I will never forget from our long ago, but memorably fun days in New York City and at Brant Lake Camp in the Adirondacks. I, and the whole Shapiro family, send you our most heartfelt thoughts and sympathies.
