DOROTHY STADE Obituary

Stade--Dorothy, age 78, passed away on July 19, 2013, in her home. The daughter of Elmer and Laura Fletcher, she was born in Floral Park, New York. Dolly graduated as the valedictorian of Sewanhaka High School and received her BA in English from St. Lawrence University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She was the devoted wife to George Stade and the loving mother to four children: Bjorn (Barry), Eric, Nancy and Kirsten. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Graham. She lit the lives of those she loved with her fierce intelligence, biting wit, and endless generosity and creativity. Dorothy's family is holding a private service on August 1, at Francis Collins Funeral Home. Her ashes will be interred at the Congressional Cemetery in Washington D.C.

My Mom was truly a brightness and a joy to her family, friends, animals, students, and those who sampled her cooking, saw her artwork, or were recipients of her boundless generosity. Note that her ashes will be interred at Rock Creek Cemetery, rather than Congressional.
