JOHN BENT Obituary
(79), of Hillsboro Beach, FL and Essex, CT, died suddenly on April 16. He graduated from Hotchkiss (54) and Yale (58). After a career in finance, he transitioned to volunteer leadership in medicine and education. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Janet Blackwell Bent, devoted father of John III (Rebecca), David (Robbie), and Stephen (Christine), and adoring grandfather of Zoe, Gemma, Faith, Addison, Clara, Blake, Chase, and Brooke. His brother Stephen P. Bent also survives him. A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church in Old Lyme, CT at 2:00pm May 7.

My condolences to Janet and the Bent family. When I heard the news of John Bent's passing, I was flying home to Oahu from the Big Island. Staring into the clouds, I could see John's warm smile and hear his laughter. I remembered the fun times when I was a guest at the Bent's home in Point O'Woods, and John was always the magnanimous patriarch who brought the family together. He will be missed but always remembered for his warmth, generosity and grace.
