WALTER STRUVE Obituary

STRUVE--Walter C., "Toby," born May 6, 1935 in Somers Point, NJ, deceased October 27, 2016 in Sleepy Hollow, NY. He studied at Lafayette College and earned a PhD in History from Yale in 1963. Diagnosed with Parkinson's, he ultimately retired from appointments as Professor for History at CCNY and at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He is predeceased by his son, John Frederick (Derick); sister, Sarah Shabaker; wife, Cynthia (nee Rivers); and survived by his son, Adam. Prof. Struve's major research focused on neoconservative elite theorists in the Weimar Republic, grass roots-level, rule of Nazism in a small German town, and 19th-Century Northern Europe-North America relations, including the Republic of Texas. Memorial service to be held November 12, 2pm at 1010 Kendal Way, in Sleepy Hollow, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
