CORRY--John A.,

of Bronxville, NY on December 26. Beloved husband of Emily McKnight Corry who predeceased him in 2016, loving father of Anne McKnight Corry of NYC, and devoted brother of Catherine (Corry) Blakemore of Albany, WI. Born in Springfield, OH, November 17, 1931. Graduate of Deerfield, Princeton (where he was Chairman of The Daily Princetonian), and Harvard Law School. He spent his entire legal career specializing in taxation at Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he became a Partner in 1967. In this capacity, he served as outside tax counsel to J.P. Morgan & Co. from 1975-1996. In 1992, he chaired the Tax Section of the NYS Bar Association. In 2010, Gramatan Village presented him with its annual award for outstanding community service, as did the Counseling Center of Southern Westchester in 2015. He greatly enjoyed golf, the Metropolitan Opera, bridge, and travel in the US and abroad. Prior to his death, he was writing a monthly column on Bronxville history for MyhometownBronxville, the local online newspaper. Memorial contributions may be made to Chautauqua Foundation, Box 46, Chautauqua, NY 14722. A service will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, January 18 at The Reformed Church of Bronxville.

Dear Catherine,
I was saddened to learn through Sue Bayley of John's passing. My family and I have been in touch with Sue regularly since the death of my sister, Barbara, last September. I know how much you must miss John because that's how much I miss Barb.

Memories of a happy childhood in Springfield keep flooding back, and an indelible one is playing softball in your back yard. We made John work for his hits, but he did plenty of hitting after that. Princeton, Harvard, the law, Bronxville - all benefited from his scholarship and stewardship. As one who's been moldering away since retirement, I am awed by John's history-writing zeal and humbled by his publishing.

Thank you for the fond memories. I wish you good health and trust that you will go on making fond memories every day for yourself and others.

With love, Dave Bodenberg
