James Hilburn Obituary
Visitation will be Thursday and Friday morning at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Sunset Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Beryl was born in Eastland, TX, June 21, 1937 to Andrew Jack Hilburn and Lonell Pate Hilburn.
Beryl married the love of his life, Cheryl Hilburn on May 15, 1992 and they had 24 wonderful years together. They did everything together and were truly the best of friends.
Beryl is preceded in death by his parents and one Brother and one Sister.
Beryl is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Hilburn of Odessa, TX., sons, Shawn and Stacie Hilburn of Highland Village, TX, Keith and Mary Jane Rodgers of Englewood, Co., Steve and Jodie Rodgers of El Paso, TX., Paul and Heather Mapes of Midland, TX., daughter, Suzanne Hilburn of Bedford, TX., 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Beryl was a Business Administrator for Monahans ISD, and a salesman of manufactured homes for Nationwide Mobile Homes.
Beryl served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Beryl was a member of the Rotary Club in Monahans and an active member at the Monahans Church of Christ for many years. He taught Sunday school and visited the ill in the hospital.
Beryl "The Boomer" was the State Golden Gloves Boxing Champion in both 1954 & 1955. He was a kind, gentle soul. Truly "One Of A Kind"!
Pallbearers will be Steve Rodgers, Keith Rodgers, Paul Mapes, Shawn Hilburn, Seth Hilburn and Brandon Bickerstaff.
The family wish to extend their gratitude for all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in our lives.
