James Lowe Obituary
Belleview - James F. "Slim" Lowe, 87, of Belleview, FL, passed away May 20, 2011, at his home. A native of Prairie Creek, IN, he was born November 5, 1923, to William W. and Anna (Pulaski) Lowe. He moved to Belleview in 1979 from Haverstraw, NY, and was a retired auto body mechanic. Slim's professional career carried him through employment with Twins Auto Body and Rockland County Auto Body in New York for more than 50 years and then continuing for Ford Motors here in this area. Mr. Lowe loved hunting, fishing, gardening and NASCAR and was a proud U.S. Marine veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient for wounds suffered in Saipan. He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Anne R. Lowe of Belleview, FL; son, James F. Lowe Jr. (Lisa), Middletown, NY; son, David D. Lowe (Dolores), Stoney Point, NY; daughter, Faith Older (Gary), Saratoga Springs, NY; daughter, Nadine Lowe, Howey-in-the-Hills, FL; son, Joel Lowe, Middletown, FL; brother, Gene Lowe (Darlene), Terre Haute, IN; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Slim was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL, with family receiving friends on that day from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Forest Lawn. Graveside committal service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860 or St. Theresa's Catholic Church Soup Kitchen of Belleview.
