Emma Holmes Obituary

Emma C. Holmes

Emma C. Holmes, 93, passed away December 5, 2013.

Born and raised in the Akron area, she graduated from Tallmadge High School, Kent State University and received a certificate from the University of Minnesota in Government Inspection.

Emma served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II, was a member of AARP, Woman Marine Association, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. She also served as World War I Liaison for the Woman Marine Assoc. for 30 years, which won her the Molly Marine Award in 1970 and the National Service Award in 1976.

Emma is survived by her nephews, Dennis and Richard; nieces, Linda and Karen.

Per her wishes, services and interment will be held privately. Memorials can be made in her name to The Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 E. Market Street, P.O. Box 547 Akron, OH 44309-0547.

We praise God for the life and service of our veteran, Emma. May she rest in peace as a grateful nation mourns. On a personal note, our Auxiliary wishes to give thanks for Miss Emma and her ever present support of our programs over so many years. We have always been proud to call her one of "our veterans". Blessings to her family.
