To The Latting Family: We offer our sympathy, thoughts and prayers. My father was Marvin Sewell. He was born and raised in Granite, OK. His parents names were Tilden Anderson Sewell and Martha Sewell. Don't know the lineage, but told that my dad and Patience were distant cousins. You can reach me at 722-6788 if you have information of the connection or need more information. My mom, Golden Garlow Sewell spoke highly of Patience. Cheryl Sewell Taylor

My sincere condolences to Mayor Latting's family. As policy analyst to the Mayor and City Council, Mayor Latting was my first supervisor. She did so much for the City of Oklahoma City and helped me understand the importance of good governing by local elected officials. I am so proud to have worked with her.

Mayor Latting was the first mayor I got to know as a city hall reporter for The Oklahoman. I admired her for her strength, courage and humanity. We became friends, partly because we both worked in professions dominated by men. She was my inspiration for more then 35 years. My prayers go out to her family.

We are so lucky to have had such a wonderful example of how a public official should serve her constituents. I had the privilege of being a visitor in her home when in college and she was a true lady, very warm and friendly. My prayers are with her family. She will be missed.

I have had the honor of meeting Mayor Latting many times. She was always very friendly, had a smile, and remembered my name. I will always admire her, remember her, and grieve for our loss. It is a very sad day. she accomplished one thing no woman will ever accomplish again. Being the first woman of a major city to be elected Mayor. I know she will be as sweet and kind in heaven as she was on earth. May you rest in peace Mayor. It was an honor to know you.
