Dear Jerry,
I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to reconnect with you and your sweet Marianne before she passed. I did drive up to OKC to see her and when I called the house Laura answered and said Marianne didn't feel like company but she would tell her I called. I'm so sorry I didn't try again. I guess I was hoping for a miracle,
I can't tell you how much she meant to me. How much you both meant to me. Every year I looked forward to the Christmas letter and picture.
My love to you and the boys and their families, I know Marianne was the best grandmother ever.
Love,
Linda Rogers

Dear Jerry
Your precious and sweet wife was my dorm counselor at May Walker Hall when we were coeds together at OCU. She grew to be one of my dearest college friends and our friendship one of my best memories of OCU. I can't believe I have just learned of her loss. I will never forget the song Like a Bridge over Troubled Waters which was one of her favorite songs back then. May God bless you and your family. Carol Zausmer Kuhn, OCU Class of '71(Savannah, Georgia)

I only met Marianne a few times but I know her son Seth pretty well from college. He is a great person and I am sure that is in no small measure a testament to his mother. Our thoughts are with the Vannetta family.
Best,

Dear Jerry,
I am so sorry to hear of Marianne's death. I never knew her really well, but from the few times that I was around her and from others who knew her better, I know that she was a special lady who will be greatly missed. Lanny had mentioned to me around Christmas time that he had heard about her cancer, and then Mike and Billie Fogarty had also mentioned it more recently. I had no idea that it was progressing so rapidly. I know it must be terribly frustrating to have only questions and no answers, but I pray that you will let God somehow comfort your heart and give you a peace that only He can give.

Dear Jerry and Family,
We were so sorry to learn of your loss. Although our family ties go back to childhood...we didn't know Marianne except through all of the wonderful things we heard about her. From those stories we know just how great your loss is. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming weeks. Richard and Kay Whaley

Dear Jerry: Being your friend has been wonderful but what a bonus to also know and love Marianne. She was so accomplished and yet she seemed to also provide the quite strength that allowed you to do so many good things. It was great fun to have her decide that after all those years of my hitting you up for political contributions that turnabout was fair play...so she began calling to have me contribute to her beloved OCU. I could not say no...she was so lovely BUT serious about her task! Rhonda and I will pray for her peace and for strength for you and your family.
