Ann Rhoads Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2017.
HADDONFIELD, N.J. - Ann Hannigan Rhoads, of Haddonfield, passed away peacefully on July, 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 98 years old.
Ann was a woman of deep faith, preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack in 1984; a brother, George (Bud) Hannigan; two sisters, Betty Gasdick and Helen Hannigan; and a nephew, Michael Hannigan.
She is survived by her six children, Ellen Rhoads, Mary (Bob) Brady, Ann (Bill) Koelling, John Rhoads, James (Joan) Rhoads and Patricia (George) Hertig; as well as 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ann was born on a farm in Olean, N.Y., the youngest of four children, born to George and Mary Shea Hannigan.
She lived in Olean, before meeting Jack Rhoads on a blind date and relocating with him to New Jersey after their marriage in 1944. They settled in Haddonfield, where they raised their six children. While caring for her family, Ann was a committed volunteer at Christ the King Church and School.
Later, she would return to the workforce, becoming one of Haddonfield's first female real-estate agents. She built long-lasting business relationships and friendships over a thirty-plus year career as an award-winning salesperson.
Her many interests included travel with family and friends, bridge club, dining out and trips down the Jersey shore. She was also very engaged in civic activities, including Rotary Club and Haddonfield West Jersey Auxiliary.
Ann is best known as Nana by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and as Auntie Ann by her loving nieces and nephews. She offered unconditional love to all. While nearly reaching the century mark, she showed them all how to age with grace and dignity. Along with her wisdom and kindness, she had an unmatched gift for recalling people and places. She will be missed, but dearly loved and remembered by her rich tapestry of family and friends.
Relatives and friends attended a visitation Friday (July 14, 2017) at 7 p.m. at Hinski-Tomlinson Funeral Home, 81 Haddon Ave., Haddonfield.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Christ The King Church, 200 Windsor Ave., Haddonfield, NJ. Ent. Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Bonaventure University, 3261 W. State Rd., Saint Bonaventure, NY 14778.

I am very sorry to hear about Ann. She was an exceptionally lovey person. In her later years, she and my Mom, both in wheelchairs, would chat and hold hands together after Mass...and Ellen and I would chat too! Ann had a beautiful faith and a beautiful smile. My sincere condolences to Ellen and the rest of Ann's family. May she rest in peace and watch over all of you.

I am so sad to hear of Ann's passing. She was instrumental in the purchase of our first house on Chestnut St. Such a sweet lady! Please know that I will keep Ann in my thoughts and prayers.
