Steve Chitwood Obituary
A member of St. James United Methodist Church, and former Sunday School Teacher. A Korean War Veteran, he retired from The Citizens Bank. He was a member of the V. F. W., American Legion, Lions Club, Toccoa Orchestra Guild, Stephens County Historical Society, and the Stephens County Chamber of Commerce, where he was 2002 senior of the year. He served as a Stephens County Commissioner and on the Development Authority.
Family members include wife, Irene Love Chitwood; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly C. and Rev. Jerry Varnado and Tammy C. and Foy Todd; grandchildren, Christopher Todd, Aaron Varnado, and Bethany Varnado, step great-grandchildren, Walker Smith and Sara Alden Smith and their mother, Margaret Varnado Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Jerry Varnado officiating. Visitation from 5pm – 8pm Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
Memorials may be made to the Northeast Georgia Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

I grew up here in Toccoa and my parents Charles H and Susan Jordan banked with many of the banks here and I always remember how fondly they spoke of Mr Chitwood and I remember him as being a nice guy, RIP. Darren Jordan and Family.
