I have already signed the book, but I still think about Dr. Baloga today and it really makes me sad to think that the world will never be graced by his knowledge and medical expertise. He was truly a wonderful doctor and it's hard to think that I will ever find anyone who I trust as much and I feel that because he fought his own health battles, he connected with his patients on a level that was beyond understanding. I still really miss him.

I was totally shocked when I received the phone call from his office telling me of his passing. Three days earlier I had just been in the office for my appt., and could not believe what I was hearing......I teared up and was actually speechless for a few moments trying to process what his office staff was telling me. I moved from So. California to Arizona about 5+ years ago but still flew out to Laguna for my appts.. I believe that when you find a Doctor that is caring, interested in you as a person and gives you the time needed - he is worth keeping and worth the airfare. I will forever miss you as REALLY good doctors don't come along every day..... Rest In Peace my friend......

I have been a patient of Dr. Marcus for a couple of years. Recently found out of Dr. Baloga's passing. Each time I saw him he had a smile on his face and often a very colorful tie on that always made me smile. Just can't believe hie passed so young. He had so much more to offer those of us who have this disease as well oa those who loved him.. I will greatly miss seeing Dr. Baloga's smile in the reception area each time I walk into the office. I guess the guy upstairs had something more important for him to do. So sorry to see such a bright man and doctor who had so much to offer leave this earth way too soon. Thank you for all the work you did for those of us who have diabetes. I can't even imagine how much you will be missed by your friends and loved ones.

I knew Joe in Rochester, NY while he was at Strong Memorial Hospital and I still remember our day at Letchworth Park with my late dog Tokie. We hiked the trails, talked a lot, ate a gourmet picnic lunch, then sat on the porch swing at my house and talked some more. It was a great day and a great memory.

I only just recently heard of Josephs passing and I was shocked and saddened at the news. He was truly one of the best doctors I have ever had. He always answered any questions I had and never made me feel like it was a silly question. In fact... he went the extra mile to make sure I completely understood his explanation, I could really see how passionate he really was about his work and his profession. He was a wonderful person and always kind and understanding. I will really miss him.

We are so saddened by Dr. Baloga's passing. We just found him by luck but after the first visit I knew he would be our Dr. My son had been sick for quite some time and no one could figure out what was wrong. We saw Dr. Baloga a couple of times and he diagnosed him. He is now on track and is feeling much better, all thanks to Dr. B. He was so kind and truly cared about us and always took the time to explain everything to us down to the small details. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He will truly be missed.

After having my first son I experienced metabolic and thyroid problems with my health. I was so frustrated after seeing numerous doctors all of which told me I was fine. I was introduced to SOCE by a friend and met Dr Baloga. Ever since Dr Baloga has been my Dr and he truly cared for his patients. He took the time to look further
into my problems something all the other doctors neglected to do and was able to diagnose me properly and treat me for hypothyroidism and insulin resistance. I am so saddened by his passing and he will truly be missed. In a world where it is very easy for the medical community to overlook patients symptoms or write them off he exemplified what a great doctor should be and it showed in how he treated his patients and went above and beyond for them. My condolences to
his family and friends. He will be missed.

Dr. Baloga was the epitome of compassion and caring. I spent years searching for the right Dr. to entrust with my health concerns. When I found Dr Baloga, I was relieved to have finally found a Dr. who saw me, the patient; sometimes full of too many questions, sometimes scared. But he always made me feel cared for. He always took time so I felt as ease. He set the standard for what I expect. I will miss him greatly. Thank you, Dr. Baloga.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my favorite doctor of all time...Dr. Baloga. I am in shock that he is gone. He has been my doctor for the past few years and he was the fourth endocronologist in three years and once I found Dr. B, I was never going to switch again. I knew I had found the right doctor. His meticulous mind and kind manner was miles above any other doctor and I will miss him greatly. He just "got it right," as I would describe him to anyone who was looking for a brilliant doctor. I will miss seeing the lastest colorful tie he would wear and the kindness he shared. I know I won't find another doctor like him who would take the time with each patient to help them truly understand their disease. I just found out today of his passing and am in shock, he was so young. We have absolutely lost one of the best doctors of all time. My prayers go out to Ken, his family and friends. May you be comforted in knowing that he was loved by so many. God Bless you, Dr. Baloga...you will be greatly missed! Thank you for the past few years of the best care a patient could ever hope for!

I think I was with Dr. Baloga for around 14 years. I went from an average blood sugar in the high 400's to an average around 150-160. I owe my life to him, I was bed ridden for years, sleeping 18-20 hours a day. More recently I was able to compete in jiu jitsu tournaments, and win, thanks to all of the help he gave me. He is my hero, and I will always remember him. I love you Dr. B, I hope you can hear me.

My most heartfelt sympathy goes to all that called Dr. Baloga family and friend. His loss will be felt by a very large number of people - including those that have yet to be diagnosed with Type I - they may learn they would have received the best care in the world. Along with my sympathy for the loss lies a certain fear - fear in not ever being able to find a doctor that is so in touch with their patients needs, possessing not only a top-notch medical education but key knowledge borne through that rare synergistic effect of being patient and caregiver. I am convinced that it was his love for people, his dedication to be the best doctor possible and his experience as a Type I patient that made him the most effective diabetes caregiver one could ask for. He was easy to love and made life with Type I possible for me. My family and I will miss him greatly.

Dr. Baloga will be missed. I have been a patient for over 10 years. He was patient, caring and intelligent. I had my Thyroid removed 40 years ago and visited many Endochrinologists over the years who give you canned answers about my symptoms. I'd been in declining health over a year. Two previous physicians patronized or ignored my complaints. After leaving a final, futile appointment, I found myself in tears. My phone rang and a friend told me about Dr Baloga. He really listened, then researched and diagnosed three complicated conditions. He took over an hour to explain each one and teach me about steps that restored my health. More than that, he restored a sense of dignity to me that had been stripped away. The difference between a doctor and a "great doctor" rests in their character. Dr. Baloga will always represent the difference that "caring" can make and how it changes lives...like mine.

We found Dr. Baloga twelve years ago when our son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. At that time, our son was only twelve years old and we were having a difficult time finding a doctor that would start a child on an insulin pump. We were turned away by many doctors before I called South Orange County Endocrinology. When I called the office, I was told that they did not see children. Out of frustration, I burst into tears on the phone. The receptionist said, "Please don't cry. I"ll ask Dr. Baloga what he thinks." Sure enough, Dr. Baloga was so kind he took our son as his patient. This was the beginning of a wonderful relationship.
This last Christmas, our son was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Dr. Baloga did not practice at this hospital and the doctors there were making matters worse by prescribing dangerous doses of insulin. At midnight we decided that we had to call Dr. Baloga. Even while being woken from a deep sleep Dr. Baloga gave us life saving advice. How do you thank someone who saves your son's life?
One of the last times I saw Dr. Baloga was several years ago around Easter. He had baked a lemon cake with lemons from his backyard tree. He gave us all a piece to sample and it was delicious! He talked about how much he loved Easter and was excited that he had found a lamb shaped cake pan for an Easter cake like he had grown up with. This Easter we will think of Dr. Baloga and his lamb cake. We will miss him so much but we are all better for having known him. He was a quiet and gentle man. He chose his words carefully and always knew the right thing to say. He was an awesome doctor and a wonderful friend. His family and friends are in our prayers.

I was a patient of Dr. Baloga for about three years. Prior to finding him I searched for three years and been treated by 17 doctors. By the time I reached Dr. B I knew what was wrong but no one in the medical profession really seemed to know how to treat my pituitary
deficiency.
It was a "no brainer" for Dr. B. He went to work quickly. My cells were that of a 90 year old woman and I was fading quickly, sometimes sleeping up to 18 hours a day and gained a lot of weight.
He said it would take about a year or two for me to get my energy back and lose the weight. "Yes, you will get your figured back," he promised. "And you will be up and running again....don't worry," he assured me. And he was spot on.
When my fiance abruptly left me at the end of 2010 he counseled me for hours. I am not sure it was his comfort zone at first but he never hesitated to encourage me, advise me and he did everything he could to keep me on track.
He believed in my inner strength along with the right medication that I could go on with my life. I started swimming again, worked with abused and/or abandoned horses and stared walking....
He discouraged me from taking anti depressants because of the lack of studies available with the medications I take. .
I saw him every six weeks. Once I told him if I ever moved I would fly anywhere to continue to see him. That made him smile and he was humbled by my comment.
He was one of the finest doctors I have ever met.
He was brilliant. He was one of my heroes. Dr. B gave me back my life several times.
I am shocked, stunned and wonder what I will without my friend and physician. He was the kind of doctor that didn't watch the clock, he wore cute little bunny ties at Easter and snowmen ties at Christmas.
He was a wonderful person. I saw him ten days ago and he looked fine and we talked about our critters/pets. He enjoyed hearing a new horse story or two.
I can't even imagine what his partner, his family and staff are going through. I cry every time I think about his passing.
His memory will forever live in my mind and heart. He will be missed by so many people.
He meant the world to me.
May you soar with the eagles Dr. B. !!!!!!!!!!!
