Eleanor Veronica "Nicky" Friend

Friend, Eleanor Veronica "Nicky", 75, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2010, surrounded by her seven children and other close family members. Eleanor was a California Native who spent her entire life living in The Golden State. She was born in Pasadena, graduated from Monrovia High School, lived in Sacramento, Redondo Beach, Garden Grove, and over the last ten years, she lived in Leisure World, Seal Beach, where she volunteered for years in the library, delivering books to the residents. Eleanor loved music and was involved with several church choirs in Orange County; she enjoyed many long, happy years in the Westminster Chorale. Eleanor was known as a loving caretaker and this was her most important lifetime role. She was the oldest sibling and only female in a family of six. She helped raise her younger brothers along with her own seven children. She was an extra special, loving soul and she will be sorely missed by all her survivors. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Thomas Friend, she is survived by her children, Clifford "Cliff" Friend, Richard "Rick" Friend, Teresa "Teri" Dempski, Lawrence "Larry" Friend, Thomas "Tom" Friend, Mary Griffin, Karen Friend, their spouses; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; along with her 5 brothers, Louis Klotz, Robert Klotz, Roger klotz, John Klotz and Donald Klotz. Viewing starts at 5 pm and the rosary will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Shannon-Bryan Mortuary, 137 E. Maple Ave, Orange, CA. The funeral will be held at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 8345 Talbert Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA on Friday, November 12 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, 8301 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach, CA. Shannon-Bryan Mortuary
