Donald Brown Obituary

BROWN, JR., DONALD JAMES, age 55, of Longwood, Florida passed away on May 14, 2011. Don suffered a heart attack after surfacing from a dive at Poor Knights Island, New Zealand. He was on assignment in New Zealand at the time of his death. Don enjoyed a 31 year career and was currently employed by Zurich North America as an Executive General Adjuster. Don's zest for life included many hobbies. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycle riding, the challenge of triathlons, and was a longtime scuba diver. He also volunteered regularly at Florida H.O.G. events. Originally born in Inglewood, CA. Don received his B.A. degree from California State University in Long Beach, CA. Throughout his life, his career path enabled him to live in California, North Carolina and Florida. His business travel allowed him to form friendships across the globe. He was a devoted member of Northland Church in Longwood. Don was a proud Father and was preceded in death by his beloved son, Randy James Brown. He is survived by parents, Kathy and Don Brown of Laguna Beach, CA; and sister and brother-in-law Cari Lynn and Dan Persinger; niece Michelle Paniz; nephews Daniel Persinger and James Persinger; daughter-in-law and husband Stephanie and Chad Sumrall; and grandchildren Kinsley and Asher. A memorial service and celebration reception will be held at Northland Church on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. Northland Church is located at 530 Dog Track Road, Longwood, FL 32750. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you honor Don's memory by donating to any of the following charities: The American Heart Association, Camp Boggy Creek (http://www.boggycreek.org), Lyman Ward Military Academy (https://www.renweb.com/renweb/donateonline/Web/System_campaign.cfm?District=LYM-AL&SchoolCode=&CampaignlD=2

I am very sorry for the loss of your loved one, Donald. I too recently loss a friend due to a sudden heart attack. The sudden loss of a loved one is very hard since it is unespected. God gives us comfort during time of breavement. May he comfort you during this difficult time for your family.
Ps 146:5,9 Happy is the one whose hope is in his God....The fatherless boy and the widow he relieves.

I was so saddened to read about Don's passing. I met him thru a running group we both belonged to, and he was always so nice and friendly. I'm praying God's peace to surround you all during this time.
