Jan Ziegengeist Obituary

ZIEGENGEIST, JAN W., 72, of Tavares, FL, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. He was a native of Wildwood, NJ, the son of the late Walter and Leona Myers
Ziegengeist. Lieutenant
Ziegengeist was with the Eustis Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He was a Firefighter Instructor at Lake-Tech Kenneth Bragg Center. He was a popular performer at the local music outlets as a folk singer/musician, an avid golfer, and a founding member of the Lake Eustis Museum of Art. He is survived by his wife Mary; four daughters, June Perez of Orlando, Jill Shepherd of Umatilla, Amy Rich of Eustis, and Kathy Mabery of Otto, NC; two sons, Jim Mabery of Panama City, FL, and Alan Sheppard of San Diego, CA; and 15 grandchildren, Jim, Carl, Jason, Brian, Chad, Brendan, Clay, Matt, Leslie, Kayla, Meagan, Mae Lynn,
Lynn-Anne, Chad, and Ethan; and two brothers, Roy Ziegengeist,
Manakin-Sabot, VA, and Norman (Butch) Ziegengeist, Eustis. He was preceded in death by daughter, Paula Cutler. A Celebration of Life will be June 16 at Life Community Church in Eustis at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Lt.
Ziegengeist Firefighter Scholarship Fund. Donations will be accepted at any USB Bank location or the Eustis Fire Department, PO Drawer 68, Eustis, FL 32727-0068. Online guestbook available at
