BOTHELL, HILLIERY EUGENE "GENE", long-time resident of Longwood, died February 27, 2011. Born September 26, 1914, in Somerset, PA, Gene served as a 1st Lt., 104th Field Artillery, 27th Infantry Div in the Pacific during WWII. Before and after the war, he was a professional minor-league umpire and also taught umpiring in Mexico and the Far East. Gene worked as a letter carrier for the USPS in Central FL for 20 years; in retirement, he worked at Seminole Community College and enjoyed traveling the world. A man of great good humor and many friends, Gene is survived by his wife of 54 years Sarah E. "Lib," sister Delores Doran; Frankfort, IL; three generations of nieces and nephews; and his faithful 4-legged companion, Shanty. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 11 a.m., at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 1021 Palm Springs Dr., Altamonte Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's or Hospice of the Comforter, Altamonte Springs.
