To Anna and family:
We share your grief in the loss of such an exceptional man. There was nothing John could not do. He was a tower of strength when needed and always a constant loyal and wonderful friend. At Congregation Beth Shalom he was someone we all loved. AND, we in the Kitchen Krew learned from him how to prepare the best food. You leave a cherished name, John de Lemos. Evelyn Greenberg

John held a place in the hearts of so many of us at Heartwood House when we shared the building at Rideau and Chapel with Beth Shalom Synagogue. He had a smile, a hug and a laugh with so many of us and was part of our daily life. Even after Heartwood House relocated to McArthur Ave., John kept in touch. He will be very much missed. Our condolences to his beloved family.

John De Lemos, you were loved by all for your kindness and humanity to all.
It was a huge blow to know that you fell ill, but proved a valiant warrior to a dread enemy.
We noticed how helpful and compassionate you were to those in need, how always ready to lend a hand, no matter how small. Thank you for putting up the coat rack at the Food Bank; but of course you know this already. We know that a person of your calibre is already with the angels, and with God. We will never forget you.

John was always the first face you'd see when coming into Congregation Beth Shalom on Chapel Street. He always greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word. Occasionally I would see him outside of the shul and he was always the same - happy to see you, loved sharing a laugh and catching up. John was a gentleman and he will be missed. Our deepest condolences to his family.

From the moment that John de Lemos came to work at Congregation Beth Shalom and subsequently at Kehillat Beth Israel, we recognized that we had acquired a very special person. John was a friend, who was warm, considerate, wise, kind, had a sense of humor, was most helpful to everyone regardless of age, was so easy to chat with, and who took an interest in everyone, and took part in everything. He truly became one of us, a dear friend. John will be greatly missed and will not be forgotten.

Very, very sad for the family and all of John's friends that he leaves us in the prime of life. He was great fun, made excellent food, and kept an eye on the old tipplers at Congregation Beth Shalom. He kept a caring eye on many people who were touched by his dedication and devotion.
May we all draw strength from the many fond memories we have of his generous spirit and how he lightened up our lives with his good acts.
May his memory always be for a blessing.
